Mother Daughter Business Duos – Betsey and Lulu Johnson
Mother’s Day may be over, but since we devoted the month of May to honoring Mom’s we thought we’d talk about moms and daughters in business. Today, we’re bringing you a peak at a famous mother-daughter business duo- Betsey and Lulu Johnson, or as Today.com called them, “The Fashionistas!”
You’ve likely heard of Betsey Johnson- she is the woman behind those funky and edgy styles with bright bold colors on shoes, clothes, accessories and more. What you may not realize is that her daughter Lulu worked with and for her until she decided to start a family of her own.
Amazingly after 13 years working together, a bought with bankruptcy for Betsey in 2012 and a tumultuous marriage for Lulu in 2013 the ladies seem to be rocking their businesses harder than ever. The duo had a reality show on the Style Network and Betsey competed on the 19th season of Dancing with the Stars.
Today, Betsey is rebuilding her Betsey Johnson brand and Lulu is about to launch a clothing line as well taking cues from her mom on how to succeed, what to do and what not do.
Even through their ups and downs in and out of business Betsey and Lulu Johnson have always remained close. It seems to be a wonderful example that when you work with your family you have your ups and downs, but no matter what- at the end of the day you’ll always have each other.
A local mother – daughter duo that keeps Tampa Bay in style are Georgette and Tasha Diaz of Georgette’s Boutique. Together they have served the Tampa Bay area in style for over 30 years. They are Tampa’s go-to boutique for prom, homecoming, mother of the bride and groom, pageants, dinner party, cruise wear, day wear and jaw-dropping accessories.
Lastly, check out www.cutieandnoodle.com card company! A little card company comprised of a mother and daughter who believe that love, laughter, encouragement and faith are important ingredients in life. They have been creating notes and cards for family and friends for many years and have been encouraged by the recipients to share them with us. Their work includes ink drawings, watercolors, photography and fiber arts.
The gift of written words shared with someone in a note or card has the power to encourage, heal and bring joy. At Cutie and Noodle Card Company hopes their little designs will be shared with the world to do just that.
