Why We Should All Be Celebrating National Library Lovers Month This February

In this day and age of the world wide web, we can often feel like we have everything we need at the touch of our fingertips– so what use is a library anymore? Libraries actually have a lot of useful elements that can help your virtual business thrive when you don’t always have the benefit of shared office space. Taking a short trip to a local library can solve a lot of problems local entrepreneurs have, especially when just starting out.
It may come as a surprise, but libraries hold more than just novels and textbooks. Tampa libraries have access to Florida legal forms, information on Florida law, access to small business information, investment resources, and entrepreneurial assistance. And that’s just on their website. At the actual library there are books on tax laws up to 2017, law books, and business manuals that can help with more specific questions that google just doesn’t know how to answer– all while being a lot cheaper than stopping off at a lawyer’s office.
Industry specific directories are another way to generate lists for marketing and sales for an up-and-coming business. Your local library has already done this research for you– or has access to an online database that can be accessed with just a library card that would be too expensive to have a subscription to yourself. Libraries also have the benefit of being great community marketing locations, either through community boards or through educational events that libraries sponsor that you can participate in.
Need a copier? A printer? A fax machine? If you’re a little far out from the virtual office, but need a little office supply help, try your local library. Libraries usually have access to these devices for cheaper than professional printing shops. They also have access to internet, if not wifi, in case your internet ever goes out. Certain Tampa libraries even have 3D printers for the public’s use, and classes on how to use them, which can help with product design.
And sure, libraries have novels. They have cookbooks, ebooks, and movies. They have how-to manuals, and a place to get away from the house to. Don’t discount the library’s original features– the ability to provide books and education to the masses. Becoming an entrepreneur can be a full-time job, so don’t be afraid to just visit the library for fun, too.
