National Small Business Week 2015

This week is National Small Business Week! Let’s celebrate!

Each year since 1963, the president of the United States has issued a proclamation calling for the celebration of National Small Business Week. This year’s National Small Business Week is May 4-8, 2015. According to the U.S. Small Business Administration this year’s theme is “SBA: Dream Big, Start Small.” In honor of this theme we thought we would offer some simple advice to help you do just that in your business:

Dream Big- Consider a goal for your business no matter how big it is to you. Whether you want it to be something as big as having your first seven figure year or you want to go from being a mom and pop shop to a huge company with a large staff. Get really clear on what your dream would look like and write it down.

Start Small- There is a saying that a car’s headlights can only see a few feet ahead, but that the same car can drive all the way from Florida to California. Even if the goal you have dreamed up seems large and daunting you can break it into smaller tasks that you can start doing now and eventually you will get to your destination. For example, if your goal is to hit that seven figure mark you could write down just five things you would need to do in your business to make that happen. Then, do at least one thing every day to make those five things a reality.
