Having trouble falling asleep?

The age old tradition is to count sheep. Perhaps you have tried that and it no longer works

for you. Try counting your blessings. Try prayer. Is there something on your mind that keeps you from falling asleep? Pray about it and take it off your mind so you are free to rest. Try reciting book titles, movie titles, grocery items A – Z.

Change Your Diet

Cut out the food and drinks that contain caffeine, such as coffee, tea, soft drinks, and chocolate, by mid afternoon. Make dinner your lightest meal, and finish it a few hours before bedtime. Skip spicy or heavy foods, which can keep you awake with heartburn or indigestion.

A cup of Sleep Time Tea or other all-natural over the counter remedies are also available.

Become a Luddite an Hour Before Bedtime

National Sleep Foundation (NSF) survey found that nearly all participants used some

type of electronics, like a television, computer, video game, or cell phone, within the last hour before going to bed. That’s a bad idea. Light from these devices stimulates the brain, making it harder to wind down. Put your gadgets away an hour before bedtime to fall asleep more quickly and sleep more soundly

What can help you get up earlier in the morning to work on your routine?

Intend it! Before you go to bed, make it your intention to get up early. When morning comes tell yourself you are doing it for you. Often times when we decide to do something new such as developing a morning routine it feels easier to hit the snooze button, but setting the intention the night before makes a big difference. The other thing you must do if you want to create an awesome morning routine is figure out why. Why do you want this? Considering all the benefits and how much more productive you will feel may be just the spark you need to push you out of bed in the morning. And, the best part is, the more you work on this routine, the easier it will come.

Lastly, if you are a morning coffee drinker be sure to prep for your morning java.

It may take a while to get used to getting up earlier than everyone else, but you will quickly find you enjoy the time to yourself.
